Organising can have a positive effect on your overall well-being. Being organised can make your life run more smoothly because you won’t have to spend time looking for things, be it keys or a bill you need to pay. It can also help you avoid stress when you’re in a rush and know where everything is.
Being Organised Makes Your Life Easier
There are many reasons why people are motivated to declutter — starting a new job, getting married, moving house — but the benefits of getting rid of clutter are always the same. You feel lighter and freer, as if a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. Your environment becomes fresh and spacious, and you’re able to keep it tidy with less effort.
Getting rid of things that don’t work for you doesn’t just clear space in your home; it clears space in your mind and heart. When you get rid of a physical thing, you’re also getting rid of the mental baggage that goes with it. So if something makes you feel bad when you look at it or think about it, whether it’s an old pair of shoes or an ex-lovers shirt, get rid of it!

Being organised is a wonderful thing. You know where everything is, you don’t waste time looking for things, and you can find items quickly if you need them. But what about decluttering?
Decluttering not only takes the pressure off your brain, but it can also take the pressure off your wallet and allow you to focus on what’s important.
Well, there are two types of clutter: the physical kind and the mental kind. Mental clutter is anything that’s on your mind — worries, regrets, and so on. And it’s even worse than physical clutter because it messes up your head and distracts you from the things you want to do.
Mental clutter can significantly impact your life — so much so that professional organisers have made it their business to help people get rid of it. An excellent organising session should leave you feeling more relaxed and able to focus on important things to you. Once you’ve done an organising session, try decluttering your space as well. Make sure all your possessions are doing something worthwhile — making your life easier or bringing pleasure in some way. If they’re not, get rid of them.

If you are struggling with being disorganised, here are my two major tips that help me stay on top of things:
Start Small
Organising your life doesn’t have to be done all at once. Instead, start small, and focus on what is most important to you. Usually, this means starting with the areas where you spend the most time – your bedroom, living room, and office.
Make it Visual
I’ve found that if there is some sort of visual cue as to where something should go (like a file folder or set of shelves), it makes it much easier to put things away when they’re done using them. But, of course, you don’t have to get super fancy either – just a simple colour- or a number-coded system can work wonders if you’re feeling particularly ambitious.
